Sales strategy: export markets

For exporters, it is essential to keep up to date on changing business conditions in your main markets.

Because the same methodology is used for each PMI™ survey around the world, comparisons of growth rates between countries can be easily made.

For example, as the chart below shows, data in late 2009 showed that new orders at US and Japanese manufacturers had recovered more strongly than intakes of new work at European firms. A company supplying inputs to customers in these markets would therefore have a good insight into likely future sales trends.

Survey panel members have privileged access to the PMI reports for all main countries of the world.

The following extract from the global PMI report shows countries ranked by output growth in September 2009. This table is updated monthly in the report.
